Three Terminal Tweaks I Keep on Every Machine

Keeping my shell setup lean means I only carry over tweaks that earn their keep. Here are the three that stick, no matter which machine I’m logging into.

I map <C-r> to fzf so I can fuzzy-search my command history. It keeps muscle memory intact while surfacing the exact script or flag combo I used last week.

2. Prompt that shows git status

Starship’s lightweight prompt tells me at a glance if my repo is dirty. No more accidental commits from the wrong branch.

3. Consistent aliases

I load a tiny aliases.sh that standardizes helpers like gs for git status and lt for ls -lha. New workstation? Drop in the file and it feels like home.
